The Resume Book provides sponsors with exclusive access to a collection of our members' resumes. This collection is categorized by our members' majors and academic standing, making it easier for our sponsors to find their ideal fit. We encourage our sponsors to look around the Resume Book for possible candidates and contact our members directly at will.
The GT-SHPE Instagram, LinkedIn, and Email Newsletter are the main methods of communication used by members. These are the platforms where numerous general members tune in for valuable professional opportunities throughout the academic year. We encourage sponsors to utilize these platforms to communicate and engage with our GT-SHPE members.
For our Technical Workshops, we invite spokespeople from the sponsor's company to discuss a trending topic in technology, any type of applied science, or a project the company is currently working on. By attending these events, our members are given the opportunity to engage in technical discussions with our corporate representatives. This is a great opportunity for companies to connect professionally with candidates for internships, exploratory programs, and full-time jobs. We recommend having technical workshops from Tuesdays to Thursdays anytime between 4-7 pm. We highly encourage sponsors to bring food, raffles, merchandising, or any other type of incentives for our members.
During informational sessions, companies join us to present information about their company's values, hiring process, job opportunities, day in the life of an employee, and contact information. Members benefit from these opportunities because they learn more about the company's culture and work environment. This is an excellent opportunity for companies to connect with our members individually and know more about job applications and opportunities. We recommend having informational sessions from Tuesdays to Thursdays anytime between 4-7 pm. We highly encourage sponsors to bring food, raffles, merchandising, or any other type of incentives for our members.
Our weekly general meetings are held every Thursday at 11 am on campus. Usually, our attendance at these meetings is the highest out of all other events of the week. Companies come to present information about their company, culture, and job opportunities. Other options for companies are to give a professional growth workshop, or a combination of technical, soft skills, or informational sessions. Historically, our sponsors provide lunch for the attendees.
The Professional Experience Program (PEP) is a select group of GT-SHPE members interested in additional and personalized professional development opportunities. These participants are chosen based on their demonstrated leadership, academic success and overall dedication to the program. This program is based on pairing a mentee with a mentor where they meet once a month. The mentee will be guided through the college experience to reach their individual goals. Moreover, the program also hosts workshops to further develop their skills to achieve success in their professional career. Additionally, the program seeks to collaborate with companies to organize special events where members can talk to company representatives in a more conversational manner. Some examples of these events are coffee chats, roundtable sessions, resume reviews, office tours, etc. Members will range across all class levels.
Professional Experience Program (PEP) Dinners are an extension of the existing PEP program. These consist of exclusive events organized for members to join company representatives in a night full of networking, meaningful conversations, and good food. PEP members will come prepared to engage with the company and learn more about different roles. Members will range across all class levels.
GT-SHPE hosts social networking events aimed at creating solid relationships between our sponsors and our members. During these events, we encourage our sponsors to interact with our members in a more casual environment. These events are held in a flexible format, and some past successful themes include bowling nights, coffee talks, escape rooms, Ponce City Market rooftop events, philanthropy events, and soccer tournaments, among others. During these events, our sponsors will be given the opportunity to interact with our members in a more casual environment, where it is easier for sponsors to connect personally with our members, and to be more involved with the GT-SHPE community.
During this event, sponsors will have the opportunity to teach our members about the technical aspects and soft skills needed to succeed in getting a job offer by hosting short workshops for groups that will be constantly rotating throughout the entirety of the event. This event encourages our members to pursue their career objectives at future events, such as the SHPE National Convention, in a more intimate environment. It is an opportunity for our sponsors to spot potential candidates, share valuable information about their company with our members, and connect further with the GT-SHPE community.
Every year, we give out scholarships to outstanding members of our organization as a reward for their commitment and to help reduce the financial burden of attending events such as conventions. Platinum sponsors will have the chance to have a scholarship to their name to reward members who fit a specific profile they favor.
Every year, we work alongside other organizations on campus like the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) to plan, organize, and host cultural, professional, or social events for all of our members. Some of these events in the past have been Networking Nights, MiStem Stories, Taste of Africa, and Career Fairs. Access and invitations to these events will be given to Gold and Platinum sponsors.
